The Parents and Patrons Association (PPA) of Bonanza Schools has authorized an annual scholarship to be given to a graduating Bonanza High School senior in recognition of good citizenship, academic background, and scholarship need. The amount of the award may vary from year to year, depending upon the amount available. The award is for one year only.
Requirements for Applicant
In order of importance:
1. The student has demonstrated good citizenship in both the school and community.
2. The student has maintained satisfactory grades, which qualifies the student for the course work he/she intends to take at college or vocational/technical school.
3. Financial need will be considered but is secondary to good citizenship and academic qualifications.
An application may be made by sending a typed letter to Bonanza PPA. The letter should include information about the student’s school or career plans and why the student feels he/she is a worthy candidate for the award. Please indicate if there is a financial need.
The letter of application with transcript attached should be given to the ASPIRE Room.
Payment of Scholarship
In order to receive the scholarship money, two weeks prior to the start of school, the student must notify Bonanza PPA of the name and address of the chosen school. At least two weeks will be needed to process the funds. If the school is changed, PPA needs to be notified promptly so that the change may be completed prior to the beginning of the term. The scholarship must be used for the upcoming school year.
Bonanza PPA will forward a check to the school's Financial Aid Office. The check will be credited to the student’s account and prorated according to the school’s calendar system.
A Selection Committee will read the letters, consider all applicants, and make the selection based on the requirements listed above.
